My Next Baseball Match Is With 2PM Taecyeon!

One good thing to do while you're travelling is to watch a local sport match, or popular sport match which is happening in the country! In Korea, BASEBALL is a very happening sport and your trip is absolutely not completed if you have yet to watch one match! Even couples like to treat baseball match as dates!

Baseball is super hot in Korea. Even drama likes baseball, like the K-Drama Cinderella Sisters in which our hot sizzling talented 2PM's Taecyeon was in it! If I have the chance I would really want to watch baseball with him!
Rue: "My next match will be watching with him!"
Reality: "Dream on"
Fantasy: "You'll never know you might win some 'A Date With Taec' contest!"
Rue: I LOVE YOU FANTASY!

So I was all so curious about baseball even though I'm not a baseball fan. But guess what, when I was in the stadium, I screamed my lungs all out and I totally enjoyed the atmosphere! So I highly recommend you to watch a baseball match if there's a good match in town!

Why was it so fun? Let me share the Top 7 Reasons!

REASON #1: It's Cheap.
It's just 8,000 Won (USD 8) per entrance! You get to choose which side you want to sit according to which team you are supporting! Usually I'll go with the one which is more famous, don't we all do that? :) I supported LG Twins!

REASON #2: It's a concert itself!
TWINS supporters were so awesome! One thing I like about their baseball matches was that whenever a new batter is going up the field, there will be a special dedicated song for them and they will definitely include the name of the batter as part of the song's lyrics for example "Yoon Ji Woong HOME RUN"! Everyone will definitely have their own song! The whole stadium was more like a battle of songs between two houses instead of the baseball match itself! The TWINS supporter area was just like a red sea, for a moment I felt I was at TVXQ concert!

REASON #3: Feed your eyes with hot cheerleaders dancing!
Yes! Just like basketball matches, baseball matches have sexy cheerleaders too! I noticed some guys were cheering all the way when the cheer leaders were dancing to the hottest song in town at that point of time! Not only that, the crowd were very sporting and they danced together with the cheerleaders!

REASON #4: Watch people kiss!
Yeap just like how Australian football always have break time cash giveaways, Korean Baseball have KISS TIME! So on that night itself I witnessed 3 kisses! Dating couple kiss, married couple kiss, and parent-child kiss! So lovely! Well accepted public displayed affections! So glad they didn't choose me and my cousin!

REASON #5: To take a picture with the grand stadium

REASON #6:
Amazing matches make your heart pumps faster and faster and you'll stand up and yell together when it's a home run!

REASON #7:
Because Taecyeon was associated with baseball before! Hottest fans scream!

TIPS FOR TOURIST
Who Should Go?
Anyone! Even if you're not a baseball lover you should go and blend in with the locals, that's where you get a real feel of what Koreans do!

How to Go?
Take a subway to Jamsil station and heads towards Jamsil Baseball Stadium

Please watch it, even if it's not with Taecyeon. :P

Featured Story: DJ Wayne's Experience with FT Island!

Yay! Her Korean Things love to share stories of Kpop lovers and their experience with anything Korean related. So fortunate to have my friend who is also MY FM's "Kpop More More" DJ Wayne to share her interview experience with FT Island who recently held their PLAY! Concert in Malaysia on January 14!

This will be HKT's first feature story, thanks so much Wayne for sharing your wonderful experience with us!
FT ISLAND & DJ WAYNE: She looks like she's part of the band too!

Can you share with us what do you usually do in MY FM's "Kpop More More" Programme?
I introduce or recommend Kpop fans the best Kpop songs in town. However rather than just introducing new or current famous Kpop songs, I find extra joy while engaging with my audiences and listen to their views on song lyrics, or what meaning does a certain Kpop song brings to them.

Recently you just interviewed FT Island! How did it feel like to be chatting with them within such a close distance?
Awesome! I was indulging in the moment of who I'm seeing and whose voice I'm listening to!

What impression did FT Island give you?
They were really nice and totally hilarious! The recording atmosphere was very good!

Share with us the most memorable instance while you were interviewing FT Island?
Haha there was this moment when they stepped into the interview room and I saw them whispering among themselves some words like "si tu ru??", "aniya...", "fashion!" etc. Moments later I got to know that they were actually discussing about my attire! My "si-tu-ru = see through" jacket just gave them the opportunity to practise their English!

Another moment was when they were asked to recommend their favourite Korean food, Hong Ki and Jae Jin enthusiastically sort of rapped their list of favourite food! When it comes to food, they got hyped up all over!

Did it feel different watching them right in front of you compared to watching them on screen?
Yes! In real life they look so much better!

Who are you most interested in among all the 5 members of FT Island?
It'll be Hong Ki! I've a strong impression on him after watching his role as Jeremy in K-drama "You''re Beautiful"! He's just too cute!

Who gave you the strongest impression during the interview?
Jae Jin! He has such a bright cheerful smile!

If you were given a chance, what would you choose to do with FT Island?
Hmm I'm learning Korean language now so I hope I could personally interview them in Korean, and also other artistes of course!

One word to describe your feelings after the interview?
It would be "Beginning". This is my first time interviewing Kpop artiste. So it's just a start, and I will definitely continue to work hard and provide everyone more exclusive interviews!

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Being able to recommend good songs to everyone and sharing interesting entertainment news is happiness to me. I hope everyone will continue to support me and my programme, MY FM 韩情More More (MY FM KPOP More More)! Thank you so much for your support all this while!

Her Korean Things Says:
Thanks DJ Wayne for your story and  for always sharing with us awesome Kpop songs! May more Kpop artiste step into your interview room soon! :) Can't wait!

I Miss Sikhye!

Sikhye is not a guy, nor a Kpop artist.

Sikhye is this:
COOL DRINK: Sikhye or also known as Korean Rice Beverage
Credits: Shira @ Naver

I just got back from badminton and at times like this I really wished I could drink Sikhye! I, no I mean anyone who goes to Jim Jil Bang 찜질방 in Korea will definitely order a bottle of Sikhye to cool down themselves. You'll also see some ajummas selling Sikhye at tourist sites like hiking areas or waterfalls.

TOP 6 THINGS YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT SIKHYE (식혜)

  1. It's pronounced as Shik - Hye!
  2. It's sweet!
  3. It's fermented from Korean rice!
  4. It's readily available in cans or plastic bottles!
  5. It's a local popular beverage among the Koreans especially at public saunas!
  6. It helps digestion!

If you're ever going to Korea, do order a bottle of 식혜 Sikhye! It would cost around 1000 won a bottle. :)

What We Learn Through K-Dramas & Kpop Songs

Some times we did not realise how much we learned about life through K-dramas and Kpop songs. If you dig into the conversation, listen to every word (for us it'll be translation), we'll be able to learn some life lessons.

I thought it would be great if I note them down! So I started doing some things....

Like below!

What do you think? I love 'em so much!

Say bye bye to the days when you secretly danced to K-Pop in your room with your K-Pop friends because on Jan 13 Malaysians are so gonna get to have their very own long awaited K-POP NITE in town!

This got me thinking will it feel like it's clubbing at Hong Dae, Seoul's hottest club street? I didn't enter any clubs when I was in Seoul, only some bars which were playing English songs!

Korean Vocab #7: Dream High Tells Us This!

Yes, this round of Korean Vocab was inspired by Dream High K-drama, and season 2 is coming out very soon! Sorry that I put a halt to Super Junior's series! I just feel that since the hype of Dream High 2  is coming back soon, I should celebrate it with this!

Today's Korean Vocab:
실패는 성공의 어머니 shil-pae-neun seong-gong-eui eo-meo-ni : Failure is The Mother Of Success

Breaking It Down:
실패 shil-pae: Failure. It comes from the Chinese word 失败
성공 seong-gong: Success. It comes from the Chinese word 成功
의 eui: 's / of
어머니 eo-meo-ni: Mother.

When To Use It:
Hmmm..when you fear failure? Cheer yourself up with this!

Other Tips:
의 eui
This actually has the same meaning with  's!
One word I really love to use because if you know a person and an object you can make simple phrases!
Eg:
택켠의 여자친구 taecyeon (2PM's member) eui yeo-ja-chin-gu:  Taecyeon's girlfriend
수지의 남자친구 suzy (Miss A's member) eui nam-ja-chin-gu: Suzy's boyfriend
나의 친구 na-eui chin-gu: me's friend -> My friend
오빠의 가방 op-pa-eui ka-bang: Brother's bag
선생님의 안경 seon-saeng-nim-eui an-gyeong: Teacher's glasses
사람의 사랑 sa-ram-eui sa-rang: People's love

Her Korean Things Says:
I really like the storyline of Dream High 1, somewhat unpredictable yet meaningful; good choice of songs too and the cast are really great performers at such a young age. I like the message the drama brought to us: To Dream High. If you've watched it, you would realise that the casts all went through certain failures at some point of time and that pushed them to strive further to achieve success!

May you be inspired as you watch this MV from Dream High:

Type Korean Like A Pro!

I've always love playing typing game! I guessed that was how I got my typing speed fast! Well that's for typing ABCs. Ever played Korean typing game?

Last time I used to practise my typing by following lyrics and I just kept on typing and typing and typing!

Later on I found out there's this cool site to practise your typing speed! Although I can type Korean without looking at the keyboard now but once a while I still make some mistakes thus, I'm still playing this typing game!

First thing you need to make sure:
You have a Korean keyboard set. In order to do that just go to Control Panels and add Korean as your language.

Introducing you Daum Kids Typing Game!

There are 3 categories: Character, Words, Sentences.

Category 1: Character
All you have to do is just to type the specific hangul word and click enter to kill off the bombs!

Category 2: Words
This category has 7 levels and the speed of the bombs are faster as the level increases. So type it and hit enter before it lands! If you aim to type fast, you should practise Category 2 more. I always had a hard time when it's double consonant because I've to press shift!

Category 3: Sentences
For most advance typers. They show you your scores and your accuracy. See the numbers below?

First row (L to R): Your current score / Your average score
Second row (L to R): Your highest score / Your accuracy

Unfortunately I don't know how they count the scores haha. So I always look at accuracy and keep making sure my scores are higher and higher every time. Anyone knows how they count? If you love to see how accurate you can be, Category 3 is the best start for you!

Have fun typing and hope it helps you improve your Korean typing skills! Do you know of other interesting sites?

Bang & Zelo In Malaysia On Jan 14!

I have to admit it is not easy to catch up with new Kpop groups. Korea is good in releasing good performers! Don't you feel the same way as I am?

Bang & Zelo is not very new to hardcore Kpop fans but I'm very sure they have loads of space for increasing popularity down year 2012! Just watch them, they are good. Somehow they give me a vibe of GD and TOP, perhaps of the similar vocals? Nevertheless, they have their unique strengths in their own way! Zelo is young, 15!

I'm not sure am I in time for this as I'll be rushing to FT Island concert which starts at 8pm. Nevertheless, I love Bang & Zelo's debut song - NEVER GIVE UP.

Sharing with you here and yes, let's never give up on our dreams! CHEERS!

안녕 2011 안녕 2012!!!! A Dedication To You!

Happy 2012!! Do you believe you can write a short Korean passage via using song lyrics?

It might not be perfect but it's one good way to learn, at least it worked for me! Let me try doing it here :D

I'm anticipating 2012 very much, so many things I want to do, and dreams to achieve! If you have a dream you want to realize it so badly in 2012, this is dedicated to you! :)
